At Rooftop Housing Group, we are proud to stand with the LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and more), community – not just during Pride Month but every day of the year.
Inclusion, respect, and caring are at the heart of what we do, and we’re committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive environment for everyone, regardless of their background or identity.
We have implemented policies to prevent discrimination and ensure that everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
We ensure that our colleagues are trained to better understand and engage with Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).
We recognise gender identities beyond the male/female binary and record this information to better support our customers and colleagues. We also record and remain mindful of individuals’ sexual orientation, ensuring services are delivered with understanding and empathy. In our internal policies, such as our maternity guidance, we’ve removed gender-specific language to be more inclusive of all family types.
Our staff are at the heart of our inclusive culture. Kirsty shares:
“I’m still quite new to Rooftop but I have always felt welcome and that I can be myself at work.”
Another colleague Eva said:
“I have worked at Rooftop in several different roles and teams and have always felt that I am safe to be myself. I've felt embraced and comfortable within the organisation's culture, and I'm grateful to have a workplace where my identity is respected, my thoughts acknowledged, and my opinions valued.”
