Information on emergency repairs
An emergency repair is something that could cause danger to health, poses a risk to residents’ safety or serious damage to your or your neighbour’s property
We fix or make safe an emergency repair within 24 hours. After you have telephoned to report an emergency repair, we are unable to give an appointment time, so somebody needs to be at the property to meet the contractor, who will usually be from our repair partners Platform Property Care (PPC). The person who waits in for the contractor must be an adult or person over 16.
PPC will attend as soon as they can within the 24 hour period.
Our contractors may do a temporary repair to make the situation safe. It is not always possible to complete a repair on the first visit, for example, they may have to return later to fix it if it requires extra parts to complete the job.
In the case of total boiler failure we may initially only be able to provide portable heaters.
Examples of emergency repairs are:
- Total loss of electrical power
- Unsafe electrical sockets or fittings
- Total loss of gas or electric heating (between 1 October and 31 March)
- Severe uncontainable water leaks and bursts where you can’t isolate the water supply.
- Complete blockage of your only toilet
- Loose or falling brickwork or concrete
- Securing a vulnerable property
If you need an emergency repair, report it to us direct on 01386 420 800
Please make sure you know how to isolate your water supply at the stoptap.
