At Rooftop Housing Group, we are committed to creating a better community to live in. When anti-social behaviour (ASB) is reported to us, we take it seriously and act quickly. A recent case in Gloucester shows how we work with residents and partner agencies to make a real difference.
In 2023, we began receiving complaints about a tenant who was causing noise, nuisance, and possibly drug-related activity. We followed our usual process, which involved contacting the tenant, sending warning letters, and arranging meetings. However, the problems continued, and neighbours were still being affected.
To tackle this, our Tenancy Services Officers worked closely with Gloucestershire Police. Together, we visited the tenant, gathered evidence from CCTV footage, noise recordings, and witness statements, and set up an Acceptable Behaviour Contract. When the issues didn’t stop, we took legal action. The court granted an injunction, and upon its breach, Rooftop regained possession of the property in April 2025.
Throughout the case, we stayed in regular contact with the police. Working as a team meant we could respond quickly and ensure both organisations had the necessary information to act.
Supporting our residents is just as important as stopping ASB. In this case, we supported a resident by assessing their circumstances and working with the local authority to relocate them to a suitable property.. We also provided practical assistance—such as providing additional CCTV to help a family feel safer and installing a new entrance gate with a code for extra protection for other residents in the area.
We also made time to talk and listen to our residents. Our teams visited residents to listen to their concerns and to show that Rooftop is here for them. We believe in putting people first and taking action that makes a real difference.
At Rooftop, we don’t just deal with ASB—we work to prevent it. By working together with the police, local services, and our customers, we aim to make all our communities better places to live
