The Rooftop Community Fund has recently made one of its largest donations, presenting £9,824 to Ourside Youth Centre, Evesham. This donation will mean the centre can now open continuously from January next year and its future will be secure until 2015.

The money will go towards the overall running costs of the centre, based in the Bengeworth area of the town. The centre has a host of facilities including a cafe bar, pool and hockey tables, computers with internet access, a television with a Nintendo Wii and Playstation and a 'chill out' relaxation area.

As well as entertainment for teenagers in Evesham, the centre, which opened in 2008 also provides advice and support including Youthline, a freephone advice line run by young people for young people.

Despite being very well used, Ourside Youth Centre relies heavily on donations and charitable funding and so in these difficult economic times we are delighted to be able to make a contribution to keep the centre functioning.

Rob Kettley, on behalf of the Rooftop Community Fund said "Ourside Youth Centre is a terrific example of the kind of project we support. Young people always need somewhere safe and secure to meet, chat with friends and have access to vital guidance and advice. We know that around 40% of regular attendees at the centre are Rooftop residents and so this money is going to make a real positive difference".
