Badsey Remembrance Hall
Back in December2011, the much-loved community hall in Badsey was given a new lease of life following a successful make-over carried out by school children, local volunteers, and Rooftop Housing Group with the support of some of our contractors.
Over two weeks, the Badsey Remembrance Hall benefitted from a newly fitted kitchen with new cooker and flooring, electrical re-wiring, replacement of external doors and redecoration throughout.
The hall was built in 1955 in recognition of war veterans. It is now used by many local groups for a variety of activities including local parish council meetings, mother and toddler groups and health and fitness classes.
Work started on 21 November, and volunteers from the Hall Committee worked tirelessly alongside the contractors for two weeks to ensure the revamp was completed as soon as possible and without causing disruption to the hall users.
Meanwhile, children from Badsey First School created a mural of poppies in remembrance of the war veterans for whom the hall is dedicated. It is now permanently on display there as a reminder.
Marcelle Wilks of the Hall Committee said:
"The hall looks fantastic and we have enjoyed working alongside Rooftop’s contractors and the Reinvestment Team, and really appreciate their generous contribution of materials and manpower. We have been well supported by volunteers from the local area who gave their time to decorate and clean up the hall."
Rob Kettley, Vice-Chair of the Rooftop Customer Panel and Chair of the Community Fund group said:
"It’s been a terrific effort by everyone concerned and really showed off the community spirit that exists in this area. We would like to thank all of our contractors for helping us to deliver these improvements in such a short timescale."
Thanks must also go to our contractors who so generously contributed to the project:
