Last year we proposed to redevelop our properties and garage courts in Bishop’s Cleeve. We are still committed to the regeneration of Bishop’s Cleeve, however, due to the current climate, we have had to re-evaluate how we are going to accomplish our goals. You may be feeling that there has been little or no progress over this time, but we have been really busy behind the scenes:
Identifying the housing need in Bishop’s Cleeve
Creating plans and designs for the areas of regeneration in the area
Conducting essential surveys
Consulting with residents to get their thoughts on the initial designs
Meeting with residents of Crown Close individually to understand their specific housing needs and desires
Submitting a pre-planning application to obtain feedback from the Local Authority in regard to what they would like to see
Amending designs in line with feedback and reconsulting with the Local Authority
We are now at a point where we have a clearer idea of how the re-development will best suit our customers, councillors, and the local community. To achieve this, we have broken the project down into several phases to make the project more manageable.
Phase one of our regeneration project will be to remove the dilapidated, mainly unused, garages at Bishop’s Drive and replacing them with11 properties. We are hopeful that a planning application can be submitted by the end of August 2020.
Phase two will be to replace the current flats and maisonettes at Crown Close, which suffer from poor sound insulation and energy efficiency, with new, more efficient homes. Our aim is to submit a planning application for Crown Close to the Local Authority at the end of September 2020.
Phase three will be to develop the area at The Green into a community hub at the heart of the village, creating a place for people to meet and shop. We are currently gathering the required information to submit pre-application advice to the Local Authority on some initial ideas.
Phase four is the regeneration project is 8 garages at Harpfield Road. We are currently drawing up plans with our architects which we will take to the Local Authority for pre-application advice in due course.
This project is still really important to Rooftop as we are committed to building better communities and we are passionate that the centre of Bishop's Cleeve is not forgotten as new developments expand further outwards. We will continue to keep you updated with all progress throughout the project.
