Tredworth NorvilleA former Victorian factory in Tredworth that has been empty for 14 years is being given a new lease of life. Rootop Housing Group have submitted plans which, if approved, will transform the wasteland and provide much needed affordable homes.

Last occupied by Norville Optical and having fallen into dereliction, people have complained of the site being used for fly tipping.

Plans will bring in a mixture of two, three and four bedroom homes, one and two-bedroomed flats as well as private and communal gardens with cycle storage. The unsightly wall around the site is to be demolished and replaced by trees and greenery.

David Hannon, Directorof Development at Rooftop said "We are looking forward to transforming this derelict site into much needed affordable housing,"
