There has been understandable concern from Housing Association residents across the country about fire safety following the tragic events at Grenfell Tower in London.

I wanted to update you on how we at Rooftop have responded.

Although Rooftop does not own or manage any tall buildings which were identified by Government as requiring checks, our immediate response was to identify cladding we had installed. This cladding is there to improve the energy efficiency and reduce fuel bills. None of the cladding we have used is of the type used at Grenfell. However, we wanted to be absolutely sure, so we also asked for, and received assurance from the manufacturers on its quality and composition, it does not pose any risk.

We are confident in our buildings and fire evacuation procedures. We felt it was the right thing to do to commission an independent expert to carry out a review at schemes (such as flats or Extra Care) and homes using non-standard construction. Safety is our number one priority; we want our residents to feel safe in their homes.

We will take any further action as a result of that independent review if we need to and we will, in the coming days and weeks, be contacting residents in those properties to offer direct assurance and advice, where it is necessary.

In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, you can call us on 01386 420851 or get in touch by email on

Many thanks
