Voluntary Right to Buy
The Autumn 2017 budget confirmed the government's intention to proceed with a large scale regional pilot of the Voluntary Right to Buy Scheme (VRtB) in the Midlands.
The new pilot in the Midlands will test out other aspects of the scheme. This means that some housing association tenants living in general needs properties in the region may be able to buy their home from their housing provider.
We will be taking part in this new pilot, keep checking the Midlands Right to Buy website for more updates.
Rooftop are keen to play a key role in exploring how elements of the VRtB scheme will operate, whilst also giving some of our Tenants an amazing opportunity to buy their home at a potentially substantial discount.
Rooftop will be working closely with other Housing Associations involved within the pilot area to allow tenants to make use of portable discounts, and ensuring that we can continue to deliver for our customers and help them to take the step into home ownership.
Whilst we will be able to decide certain aspects of our policy and procedure, a number of the rules for the pilot will be set by the Government - including the decision on who is eligible to purchase their home and from what areas.
