The Community Fund

What is the community fund?

The Rooftop Community Fund is a scheme which is the responsibility of the Customer Panel. This group of residents works on your behalf to improve your housing and related services and the quality of life for residents and the wider community.

The Customer Panel have been given approval to distribute £100,000 from the Rent Restructure Reserve to projects which benefit residents in their local communities.

What can the Community Fund be spent on?

Applications should show that they benefit the wider community as well as having a benefit for our residents. Applications for funding can be for grants from £100 to £10,000. Here are some examples of what the fund could be used for:

  • improvements to parks, playgrounds and local green spaces
  • a local playgroup needing to purchase new toys and equipment
  • a refit for a village hall kitchen so that it can be better used by the local community.

Working World

Rooftop’s Community Fund has provided a portacabin for Working World, a non-profit organisation that helps young people with learning difficulties gain skills forWorking World work. Helen Hurdman, found of Working World, said “ We cannot thank Rooftop enough for their kind generosity. The money we received for the portacabin has totally changed us. We were so squashed in one portacabin for two years. We now have space!”

With the money they have received, they have also been able to refurbish the new portacabin internally and externally.
