NHS health survey for migrant workers

Wychavon District Council and MIRA (Migration and Integration in Rural Areas) has teamed up with NHS Worcestershire to create a public health survey for the migrant community.

Many economic migrants come to Worcestershire and make a substantial contribution to the economy and in particular to its agricultural industry.

But it is known that health outcomes can be lower among this minority community and the NHS is keen to find out more.

The public health department and Wychavon District Council are working together to launch a survey to hear more from migrants about their experiences of the NHS, and their health generally.

Dr Frances Howie, Assistant Director of Public Health at NHS Worcestershire, said: “We have a duty to provide good quality health care for all who are eligible, and we must make sure that this includes our economic migrants who play such an important part in the agricultural life of our county. We are hoping that as many as possible will fill out this survey so that we can take the findings into account when we plan services for the future.”
